What Happens If a Deal Expires or Is Cancelled

Not every deal moves forward. Sometimes brands go quiet, payments are delayed, or circumstances change on either side. Lemyi is built with these realities in mind, which is why deals and invoices have clear expiry and cancellation rules.

This article explains exactly what happens when a deal expires or is cancelled, what it means for creators, and how Lemyi protects you throughout the process.

When a deal can expire

A deal can expire when required actions are not completed within the allowed timeframe.

The most common scenario is payment-related.

After a deal offer is sent and accepted by the brand, the brand must fund the deal within a defined window. If payment is not completed within that window, the deal does not remain open indefinitely.

When a deal expires:

  • No payment has been secured

  • No work should have started

  • No obligation exists for the creator

Expiration is automatic and intentional. It prevents creators from being left in limbo waiting for brands that may never proceed.

What happens when a deal expires

If a deal expires due to non-payment or inaction:

  • The deal attempt is marked as failed

  • The invoice is voided

  • The job remains active

  • The creator is fully released from the deal

Nothing negative happens to your account. An expired deal is treated as a non-event, not a rejection.

Brands can still move forward by requesting a new deal offer, either with you or with another shortlisted creator.

When a deal can be cancelled

A deal can also be cancelled intentionally.

Cancellation may happen when:

  • The brand decides not to proceed

  • The scope changes significantly

  • The creator declines the deal

  • Lemyi identifies a compliance or safety issue

Unlike expiration, cancellation is a deliberate action that ends the deal attempt immediately.

What happens when a deal is cancelled

When a deal is cancelled:

  • The deal is closed

  • Any unpaid invoice is voided

  • No work is expected from the creator

  • The job stays active unless explicitly closed

Cancellation does not affect your creator standing. It simply means the collaboration did not move forward.

If you had already accepted the deal but payment was not confirmed, you are never expected to deliver anything.

What does not happen in expired or cancelled deals

In both expiration and cancellation scenarios:

  • You do not lose application credits

  • Your profile visibility is not affected

  • Your tier does not change

  • No penalties are applied

Lemyi treats failed deal attempts as part of normal marketplace activity, not as creator errors.

Can the same job continue after a failed deal?

Yes.

One job on Lemyi can have multiple deal attempts over time.

After a deal expires or is cancelled:

  • The brand may request a new offer for the same creator

  • The brand may request an offer for a different shortlisted creator

  • The job remains visible and open

This ensures that one failed deal does not block future opportunities.

What creators should do after a deal expires or is cancelled

In most cases, no action is required from you.

The best approach is to:

  • Continue applying to other relevant jobs

  • Stay available in case a new offer is requested

  • Avoid reaching out off-platform

If a brand wants to proceed again, the next step will always come through Lemyi as a new deal offer.

Why this system exists

These rules exist to protect creators from:

  • Unpaid work

  • Endless waiting

  • Informal promises that never materialize

By enforcing expiration and cancellation clearly, Lemyi ensures that every active deal is intentional, funded, and ready to proceed.
